Conshohocken, PA (Montgomery County)
Conshohocken is a borough nestled within a crook of the Schuylkill River, overlooking West Conshohocken, across the bank and bordering the north side of the Lower Merion district. The borough is serviced by two SEPTA rail stations and is located next to I-476 and minutes away from the I-76 Schuylkill Expressway, all of which offer excellent transportation into the heart of Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Once a prosperous industrial site, Conshohocken has become a center of significant redevelopment, especially along the river front area. Where mills, warehouses and factories once stood now exist luxury apartment buildings and condominiums. Many technological businesses have since moved to this borough, earning it the humorous nickname "Silicon Valley Forge.” Conshohocken or "Conshy” as it is fondly called by some locals is home to many young single professionals in tech jobs or who work in sales, administrative support, business and finance. Over 86 percent of all residents are employed in high-paying, white collar jobs and more than half of all adults possess four year degrees or higher. The high concentration of young and single professionals has led to a thriving night life around the borough, with many upscale restaurants, clubs and bars in the vicinity. Conshohocken is not exclusively a young person’s town, however. Many families also live in the area and benefit from the nearby parks, community organizations and quality schools.
