The Philadelphia Main Line area has a wide variety of communities to offer its residents. The Main Line is a vibrant collection of towns in the Western suburbs of Philadelphia and is named after the Main Line of the Pennsylvania Railroad (currently Septa’s R5 line).

Rolling hills, winding roads and open meadows add to the glory of this beautiful area. Magnificent homes, great shopping, top rated restaurants, golf and other recreational activities and professional services all contribute to the high quality of life on the Main Line.

The Main Line also has some of the best public private and public schools in the country, including at the University and high school levels. Not to mention excellent healthcare facilities and hospitals throughout the Main Line.

The Main Line is home to some of the wealthiest communities in the United States such as Gladwyne, which has the 14th highest per-capita income in the United States.

Rail service is provided by Amtrak’s Keystone Corridor and SEPTA’s Paoli/Thorndale Line. There are also a number of buses that travel from the Main Line suburbs into Center City Philadelphia on a daily basis.

Notable Main Liners include Walter Annenberg (billionaire, philanthropist), Kobe Brant (NBA Player), Tory Burch (fashion designer), Chubby Checker (musician), Julius Erving (NBA Player), Patti Labelle (musician), and M. Night Shyamaian (film director), among others.

The heart of the Main Line is between Wayne and Bala Cynwyd but the contemporary Main Line area extends as far west as West Chester, as far north as Plymouth Meeting and as far south as Media.
