Newtown Square is a township of approximately 12,200 people
located along the West Chester Pike, just west of Philadelphia. The township has a rich history, having been first settled by Welsh Quakers in the late 17th Century. As a result, there are many historic landmarks in the area, such as the Hood Octagonal School, Bartram’s Covered Bridge and the Square Tavern.
The township is a suburban area populated by upper and middle class families, most of which commute into Philadelphia or nearby commercial areas.
Newtown Square has access to many great schools, including the Marple Newtown High School located southeast of downtown. The Episcopal Academy co-ed college preparatory school, founded in 1785, relocated its main facility from Merion to a state-of-the-art campus in Newtown Square in 2008.
Many country clubs and golf courses surround the township, taking advantage of the abundance of natural beauty. The nearby Ridley Creek State Park and Springtown Reservoir also provide residents quick access to a natural getaway for weekend activities or camping.
Newtown Square has many quality restaurants in the vicinity, as well as an abundance of shopping opportunities in the Newtown Square Shopping Center.
